Model Setting Your Goals Using Kolb

Pada 1984 seorang laki-laki di samping nama David Kolb membuat model yang berdasarkan cara berbeda yang dipelajari oleh orang. Gaya belajar ini sudah sadar kembali diketahui sebagai “Kolb’s model” dan dipergunakan hari ini untuk mengetahui cara berbeda di tokoh tertentu yang mana belajar dan menangkap informasi. Kalau anda sedang menetapkan cita-cita bagi sendiri kadang-kadang bisa menolong anda untuk mengerti sedikit lebih banyak tentang cara di yang anda, sebagai seorang individu, belajar.

Kolb percaya bahwa kita semua belajar dengan memakai empat gaya berbeda belajar:

• Learning lewat melakukan, atau dengan mengadakan percobaan dengan sesuatu.
• Learning lewat menonton dan sadar melihat sesuatu.
• Learning lewat merasa, atau oleh secara aktif mengalami sesuatu, dan
• Learning lewat berpikir dan conceptualizing sesuatu.

Empat gaya ini belajar mungkin dikalahkan pun lebih lanjut oleh menegaskan macam “learner” orang ialah:

• The “activist” orang. Pembelajar sejenis ini mengurus intuisi penggunaan dan persepsi lebih baik daripada berkeputusan untuk mempelajari hal baru.
• The “reflector” orang. Reflektor belajar lewat menonton dan memandang dunia dari perspektif yang berbeda sama sekali daripada pembelajar lain. Pembelajar ini bisa sangat imaginatif dan mempergunakan imajinasi ini untuk mematuhi pengalaman mereka sendiri.
• The “theorist” orang. Pembelajar sejenis ini cenderung menganalisa hal secara logis dan metodis. Mereka mencari keterangan tepat hal sewaktu mereka diperkenalkan kepada mereka.
• The “pragmatist” orang. Orang pragmatis adalah seorang pembelajar yang memakai informasi mereka menyerap di cara praktis untuk memajukan pengetahuan mereka. Pembelajar seperti ini agak cepat untuk mendapat hal dilakukan dan bersedia juga mengambil risiko bahwa pembelajar lain tidak bersedia untuk mengambil.

When you know which category of learning you best fit into, you will be able to determine what works best for you in order to achieve your goals. You will have a better understanding of how you absorb information and what you can do with this processed information as it applies to goals.

Bear in mind that Kolb’s model is just a sequence of learning theories and that many people can fall into more than one category when it comes to the way that they learn new things. As you start to set more goals for yourself you will need to have a plan of how you are going to achieve these goals. Having goals is necessary of course but having the tools and the knowledge to attain these goals is just as important. After all, if you do not know what works best for you when it comes how you learn and grow how will you know which perceptions to follow and make a reality?
